The family of Celia T. Camarillo sadly announces the passing of our loved one on April 8, 2022, at her home in San Antonio. She was born on July 25, 1932, in Converse, Texas. Celia was a hard worker starting as a child. She performed daily household chores, cooking, cleaning, sewing, pressing starched clothes with a heavy cast iron, and caring for her younger siblings. Upon completion of third grade, she had to pick cotton by hand instead of continuing her education. As a teenager she was a nanny. In her 20s, she worked in the assembly line of a distributing company making and packaging sandwiches. While attending a dance, she met her future one and only loving husband. She married Epifanio S. Camarillo in a quick whirlwind wedding in San Antonio on October 26, 1958, during his furlough after completing boot camp in El Paso. For the next 21 years the happy couple journeyed throughout the continental U.S. with two trips to Germany and one to Okinawa. While stationed at the latter, Celia was blessed to have her own maid/nanny and sewing girl. During their travels, they had four children. Celia was a stay-at-home mother who took immaculate care of her home. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, embroidering, and making tortillas from scratch every day. She was very loving with her spouse and children. The family enjoyed doing things together: fishing, going to the beach, collecting seashells, sightseeing, playing board games and outdoor games. Strong in her Christian faith she enjoyed attending church with her family every Sunday. After Army life, they returned to San Antonio. Celia cared for aging relatives by visiting, talking to them, and providing hot meals. She was very generous, kindhearted, and considerate of others needs. She was happy to share her homegrown oranges, vegetables, peppers, and flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren by entertaining them at the park, flea market, and taking them out for pizza and burgers. She and Pife were always excited to fly to Las Vegas. They enjoyed their meals at Whataburger 3-4 times per week; always sitting in the same booth. They enjoyed each others company, always laughing, smiling, and holding hands. Celia was preceded in death by her mother Andrea Perez, adoptive parents Porfirio and Dolores Torres, four sisters, one brother and her youngest son Felix T. Camarillo. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Epifanio S. Camarillo (Pife), daughter Maria T. Camarillo and sons Vernon and Alex, daughter Gloria T. Chapa (David) and sons Daniel and Robert, and son Epifanio T. Camarillo (Margie) his children Cristina and Anthony, great granddaughter Daniella, one sister, three brothers, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. We are so sad to see her go, and well miss her so much. She led a full and happy life. We are at peace knowing Celia is in the Lords hands. We look forward to seeing her again.
