'I met Sgt Ruiz prior to deployment but flew with him to Afghanistan. I got to know him and discovered we were from the same hometown. He enjoyed a card game called spades. We teamed up and we ended up winning by doing the 
impossible.We ran a Boston He spoke of his love for his family and the Marine Corps. A contagious smile and a beautiful soul. My prayers are with his family. Rest my brother. Semper Fi.'

'We never knew Sgt. Ruiz, but we are so thankful for his service to our country, and just devastated that another brave young Marine had to pay the ultimate price. We thank his wife for allowing him to serve his country, and want her to know our thoughts are with her and her son.
