Charles “Charlie” A. Blake, age 79, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2021. He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on September 28, 1941 to Forrest Lee and Amparo Blake. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
He retired from CPS Energy in 2002 after 32 years of service as an engineering technician.
Charlie spent his life dedicated to his family. He was married to his loving wife, Barbara, for 51 years before her passing in 2017. He was always loving and devoted to his children Dennis and Tracy. He doted over his granddaughters, Sierra and Allison, as much as possible and really enjoyed all the time he was able to spend with his great grandson, Jaxsen, especially over the past year and half. Any time Charlie would even sneeze, Jaxsen was the first to ask him “OK Gandpa?”
Other than his family and friends, Charlie’s next love was the game of golf. Almost every weekend or every other weekend you could surely catch him on the golf course. It could be just for fun or in a tournament with the Public Service Golf Association in which he was a member since 1993. In fact, a good portion of the family camping and fishing trips over the years were based on if there was also a golf course nearby.
In 1963, a few years after graduating high school, he was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War era. He served for two years and earned the title of an Expert Rifleman. In 2018, he was honored with a trip of a lifetime sponsored by Honor Flight San Antonio to visit the Memorials in Washington, DC and most importantly the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This trip renewed his connection with other veterans and further elevated his sense of pride for serving our country.
Charlie is preceded in death by parents, Forrest Lee and Amparo Blake, loving wife, Barbara Blake and son Dennis Blake.
Charlie is survived by daughter, Tracy Kosub (David Williams); granddaughter, Sierra Henze (Tristen), great grandson, Jaxsen Henze, granddaughter, Allison Kosub, brothers, Bill Blake (Madeline), Edward Blake (Blanca), sisters, Mary Blake Carney and Debbie Martinez (Henry); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
