

Charles "Chuck" N. Boggess Sr., age 82, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002. Mr. Boggess graduated from Concord College, West Virginia. Mr. Boggess began his illustrious career with the Harlandale School District as a
part-time teacher and retired nearly forty years later after serving as Superintendent for 13 years. During his tenure in Harlandale he taught biology and coached the Harlandale High School basketball team, and then held several administrative positions such as athletic director, curriculum coordinator, assistant superintendent and eventually was named the top job for this school district. He also was elected as a representative of the Texas University Interscholastic League's Legislative Council and served as the Chairman of the UIL Athletic Committee. Among the many distinguished awards Mr. Boggess earned include: a lifetime membership in the National and Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers; the Freedom's Foundation at Valley Forge American Educators Medal Award; the Texas State Teachers Association's Outstanding Administrator of the Year; the San Antonio City Council's Outstanding Citizen's Award; and, two Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate Resolutions of Commendation. Tuesday evening, April 2, 2002, the Harlandale School District dedicated the Charles N. Boggess Center in his honor. He is survived by wife, Maude Ellen Brite Boggess; sons, Charles N. Boggess Jr., John A. Boggess and Geoff Boggess; daughter, Terry Boggess; and 10 grandchildren.
