Charles Douglas Buckholdt, age 67, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 22, 2020. Charles was born in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, July 14, 1952; first born son of Ferdinand "Fred" Charles Buckholdt Jr. and Dorothy Marie (Warzecha) Buckholdt. He is known to many as " Chuck," "Chucky," and "Uncle Chuckles." He attended St. Mary's University and later decided to transfer to Texas A&M University where he met his wife, Stephanie Ann Heimann and fell in love. He graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He spent over 25 years as a civil engineer with the federal government. He began at Kelly AFB in early 1983 and moved to Hill AFB in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2000 where he remained until his retirement in June 2008. While at Kelly AFB he joined Toastmasters Club and was an avid member throughout his career. Chuck loved nature, animals, all things family, family trips, football and being a barbeque grill master for everyone especially at holiday family get-togethers. He really enjoyed laughing, joking, dancing, mostly at weddings and Colorado gold-prospecting trips with loved ones. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched and will be remembered for his love of life, love of family, love of friends, love of nature, his terrific smile, contagious laughter, his huge heart and great generosity.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Stephanie and their son Matthew Sean Buckholdt; his sister Victoria (Julie) Buckholdt and brother Anthony (Christine), Danny, godson Fredric, Franklin Buckholdt; goddaughter Tammy MacDonald; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive guests from 4pm-7pm on Monday, June 22, 2020. Rosary and Celebration of Life will begin at 5pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78238.
