

Charles L. Chambless, 80, passed away on March 30, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to parents, Charles Edward and Lela Avis (McKinnon) Chambless on February 10, 1943 in Floresville, Texas. He acquired his interest and love of electronics from his Uncle Lloyd McKinnon who worked at a Radio Repair Service in Floresville, Texas.
He graduated from Highlands High School in 1961 and went to work for IBM from 1961-1963. He continued his education at San Antonio College while working and residing at the Baptist Student Union. He then met and married the love of his life, Barbara Lee Trenton, they married on November 29, 1963. He also worked at KENS-TV as a Broadcast Engineer from 1963-1966. In 1966 with Vietnam in full swing, he served in the Navy and was on a nuclear submarine as a Reactor Operator. He stayed in the Navy for 6 years and received an Honorable Discharge in 1972, with a wife and two kids (Alan and Joy) to support.
He went to school full time and worked during the Christmas and Summer breaks at Datapoint to support his family and to finish his education. He was a Test Engineer and then a Design Engineer for Datapoint (from 1972-1984). He graduated from UTSA in 1980 with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Systems and Design. After Datapoint he worked as a Systems Programmer at Teknekron Infoswitch. Then he worked at AMD Micro Devices as a Test Maintenance Engineer. Finally retiring from Sony Micro Electronics which he worked as a Test Engineer and Test Equipment Support Engineer.
He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle and friend. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charles Edward and Lela Avis Chambless, and his brother Ronald Chambless. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Lee Chambless, son Alan Chambless, daughter Joy Kurner (Husband Bryan Kurner), grandson Mark Kurner, granddaughter Grace Kurner, sister Sharon Schocke, and nieces, nephew, and numerous cousins. He will be missed, but as Christians we know we will see you again.
