

Charles Arthur Craig passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in his home in Mount Carmel, Tennessee. Charles was born on November 27, 1922 in Green Forest, Arkansas, the oldest son of Charles Boyd Craig and Marie (Schlagel) Craig. Charles lived a long and fruitful life, and he was proud of his daughter and grandchildren whom he considered his greatest accomplishments.
Charles proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Throughout his life, Charles worked as a skilled carpenter, and he was always willing to lend his talent to family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charles was also an ardent supporter of the Republican Party and served as treasurer to the Republican Town Committee of Montville, Connecticut.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Viola Marie (Ottaviano) Craig; his parents; his brothers Robert, Paul, George, and Wilbert; his sister Alice, and his son-in-law, Frederick and niece Beverely. Charles is survived by his loving daughter, Kathrine (Craig) Bakowski; his three grandchildren, Lisa, Carissa and Stephen; his great grandson, Christopher; and his sister, Anna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Interment service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery where he will join his dear wife who has “been saving his spot” for 20 years.
