It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles C. Davis. Born on December 5, 1957, Charles lived a life full of wit, intelligence, scholarship, and humor. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of travel, adventure, pursuit of higher education, and musical expression. He was a beacon of strength and determination, loved by his family and all who knew him.
In his youth, Charles served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force with roles throughout several specialties. His service was a testament to his commitment to helping others, his reliance in the face of adversity, and his unwavering sense of duty - virtues he carried with him long after his retirement from the United States Air Force.
Following his service, he pursued higher education with unmatched tenacity. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts, a Master’s degree, and a PhD. A testament to his intellectual prowess and a clear demonstration of his respect for knowledge and academia.
In 1985, Charles met Mona while stationed in San Antonio, Texas, beginning a relationship that would become one of the defining joys of his life. The couple married in November 1987 and built a family together rooted in love, perseverance, and shared devotion. Their marriage was blessed with four children, and the life they created together remained a source of great pride and fulfillment for Charles throughout the years.
A defining turning point in Charles’ life came in 1987 when he dedicated his life to God. From that moment on, his faith guided his decisions, shaped his character, and sustained him through life’s joys and challenges. Charles sought to honor God in all that he did, believing that every accomplishment and act of service was for His glory. He worshipped and loved God with all his heart and soul, and his steadfast faith was reflected in his devotion to family, learning, and service to others.
Charles was an accomplished individual in every regard; however, his pride and joy were his four children, John, Ruth, Sarah, and Cyrus. His dedication to his children was an embodiment of his belief in hard work, respect, and integrity. His wisdom and teachings continue to inspire and guide them.
Beyond his myriad of achievements, music was one of Charles’ lifelong passions and a source of great joy. He had a particular love for jazz and possessed a remarkable natural musical talent. Charles played the trumpet and guitar, enjoyed singing, and was blessed with the extraordinary ability of perfect pitch. Whether listening to his favorite jazz artists, performing, or sharing music with family and friends, Charles found inspiration and connection through music. His appreciation for the art form enriched his life and those around him who had the pleasure of hearing him play or sing.
Charles's life was a tapestry of rich and joyous experiences, stitched together by his ever-present humor, wit, and indomitable spirit. He will be remembered not just for his achievements but also for his wonderful personality and larger than life spirit. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
