

Charles Edward Ferguson III, age 67, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Charles was born in Kingsville, TX on May 24, 1946. After a sojourn in Corpus Christi, his family moved to Uvalde where he graduated from high school in 1964. The Uvalde Coyote was a star athlete in football and track and went to Texas A&M on a full track scholarship. Upon receiving his MBA from Southwest Texas State University, where he was a teaching assistant, Charles was commissioned into the US Army with tours at Ft. Lee, Va., and Ft. Sam Houston. For a short period of time, Mr. Ferguson also taught at Our Lady of the Lake University. After time in the corporate world with American Hospital Supply and Exxon Mobil, Charles opened the first Goodyear franchise in San Antonio in 1979, eventually having three stores which later became Alamo Garage. Charles was a man of faith who attended Oblate Theological Seminary. He was a long-time member of Laurel Heights United Methodist Church and served as a conference delegate, was a member of the Administrative Board, and chairman of the Board of Trustees. Charles was the first pilgrim from Laurel Heights to go on a Walk to Emmaus and served on several teams. He reveled in the time he could spend with family, especially his precious granddaughters.
Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vicki Cook Ferguson; son, Charles E. Ferguson IV (Chad) and wife, Mary; daughter, Fara Ferguson Carvalhinhos and husband, Peter; granddaughters, Leighton and Georgia Ferguson and Katherine Carvalhinhos; sister, Karen King and husband, Walter; brothers, Gary Ferguson and wife Shannah, and Alan Ferguson and wife Peg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and Godchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Porter Loring on McCullough.
