

Charles Drahn Gray, Jr., of Adkins/San Antonio, Texas, known to friends and family as "Chuck" or "Sonnie," passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 9, 2026, at the Frank Tejeda Veterans Home in Floresville, Texas. He was 87 years old.
Born in McLennan County on November 1, 1938, to Charles Drahn Gray, Sr. and Eura O. Crawford Gray, Chuck grew up with a strong work ethic and a commitment to his community. He was a proud graduate of North East High School (later MacArthur High School) before answering the call to serve his country. Chuck served honorably in the United States Navy for four years, a period of his life that shaped his character and dedication.
Upon returning to civilian life, Chuck became a fixture in the local business community. He was a skilled entrepreneur within the automobile and HVAC industries, most notably as the owner of A-1 Auto Sales and Your Heat & Air. His neighbors and customers knew him as a man who valued honest work and reliable service.
Chuck’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a long-time, devoted member of the Southeast Church of Christ, where he found great fellowship and purpose. He is survived by a large circle of family and dear friends who will miss his presence, his stories, and his steadfast nature.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218, on March 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A committal service will take place at Live Oak Cemetery, HW64+HX, Ballard Crossing, Texas 76531, on March 18, 2026, from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
