

Charles "Charlie" Allen Klein, 83, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025. A cherished father, grandfather, and dedicated community member, Charlie lived a life marked by service to others and a deep love for the outdoors.
Born on May 30, 1941, to Frank and Aselee Klein in San Antonio, Texas, Charlie was a lifelong resident of the city he loved. After graduating from Northside High School, he built a career in the construction field while helping his parents operate the Texas Star Inn on weekends, demonstrating the strong work ethic and family dedication that would define his life.
Charlie's passion for nature and wildlife conservation was evident in his active involvement with numerous organizations, including the Wild Turkey Federation (Jake's Federation), Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association, and the Dutch Oven Society. His commitment to community service extended to volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and the Helotes Festival Association, among many other organizations.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Klein, daughter Karrie Klein, and his parents Frank and Aselee Klein. His memory will be cherished by his surviving family: daughters Cindy Mills (Brad-deceased), Carol Bryant (Andy), and Patricia Smith (Richard); grandchildren Cassie Perry (Chris), Gary Hunter Jr, Tasha Smith, Tyler Smith, Tabitha Mills (Greg), and William Bryant; great-grandsons Mathew Perry, Hunter Perry, and Westin Mills; brothers Frank Klein Jr. and Bobby Klein (Barbara); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home Northwest, 6321 Bandera Road. A viewing will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, followed by funeral services on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 7:00 pm with visitation beginning at 6:00 pm
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Magda Senior Home Care and his hospice nurse Tonya for their compassionate care during Charlie's final days. A special thank you to Shawn and Randi de Cento for years of love and support to Charlie and the family.
