Born in Ft. Benning, GA; he is preceded in death by his parents, Tom Ingild Mock and Helen Schauffler Mock. He grew up in San Antonio, graduated from Alamo Heights High School and from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Architecture.
He lived and practiced architecture in New York City; San Francisco; Eugene, Oregon, and eventually returned to Texas. He continued to be an architect and also pursued his dream of being an artist.
Charlie painted, explored various media, and loved the act of creating.
Over the years, he exhibited his pieces in several galleries, worked at the McNay Art Institute, and took great pleasure in sharing his passions (art and golf), especially with his grandsons. In turn, he took enormous pride and interest in their musical, academic, sports, and personal accomplishments.
A lifelong Episcopalian, football enthusiast, undaunted do-it-yourselfer, Charlie possessed unique and memorable gifts. His particular charm and "spark" will remain with those who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Tom Mock and wife, Anne (Asheville, NC); sisters: Janet Mock Willingham and husband, Tom (Punta Gorda, FL) and Annie Mock Chan and husband, Christopher (Cambridge, MA); nieces and nephew: Ashley Mock Dotson, Charles David Mock, Claire Chan and Amy Chan; former wife, Julie Fitch Mock (San Antonio, TX); step-daughters: Susan Steves Thompson and husband, John (Round Rock, TX) and Sarah Steves Lichter (South Riding, VA); and grandsons: William Steves Thompson, John "Jack" Arthur Thompson, Andrew Fitch Thompson and Daniel Hollis Lichter.
