Charles Robert Moore, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on October 30, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was 82 years old. Born on January 6, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas. Charles was a proud veteran who spent his life dedicated to his family, his country, and his passions.
A distinguished veteran, Charles served in the United States Army, where he earned recognition for his dedicated service and commitment to his country. His military career was marked by his discipline and integrity, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and subordinates alike.
Beyond his military accomplishments, Charles was a man of many interests. He had a lifelong love for racing. He won several Mountain and Uphill competitions for Porche. He distinguished himself in two drag boat categories. Winning multiple races, rookie of the year and 2nd place in the yearly finals. A thrilling pursuit that fueled his competitive spirit and passion for adventure. He also found joy in traveling, especially to Hawaii, where he and his late wife, Carol, spent many memorable trips together, exploring the islands and enjoying the beauty of the ocean. Charles’ love for travel extended beyond the beaches of Hawaii, as he relished the opportunity to explore new places with his family.
Charles was an avid animal lover, particularly of his beloved German Shepherds, who brought him much joy and companionship. He and his wife Carol had a passion for German Shepherds. With a prize male who earned top ranks in the American Kennel Club and the German Shepherd Dog Club of America. He cherished his time with his dogs, and they were an integral part of his life.
A devoted family man, Charles’ greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones. He was a proud father to his two children, Robert William Moore and Catherine Diane Moore-Quarels, and a cherished grandfather to his four grandchildren: Syerra Lynn Moore (Mario), Cheyenne Autumn Shoemaker (Joseph), Connor Timothy Quarels, and Lindsay Carol Quarels. And Great Grandchildren Joseph Shoemaker, Charles Shoemaker, Allysun Tays, and Logan Tays.
His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Moore, and his parents, Evelyn McKinney and Wilburn Moore. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his brother, James "Jim" Moore, along with countless other family members and friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and wisdom.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a service to start at 11:00 a.m.
Interment to follow with Military Honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Carol Jean Moore at 1:00 p.m.
Charles Robert Moore lived a life of purpose and passion, and he will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
