I am deeply saddened to hear of Charlie's passing.  My heart goes out to you during this difficult time.  Charlie was my Principle Technologist and I worked with him daily.  He was a real jokester and liked to pick on us a little.  He was a kind man and a person we would go to for help for work issues when we needed it. 
He was kind hearted and dedicated to his job.
He will be missed greatly.

I have known Charlie since the day he started work in the Army Lab at Southwest Research Institute. He and I hit it off right away. We worked together in the lab; and later, when my projects meant out of town travel, I always asked Charlie to go with me if possible.  We just worked so well together. I was lucky to have him with me on so many trips around the country. None of the work was clean or easy but Charlie was always ready. We had one job where he and I were tasked to take fuel samples from a Navy barge in Philadelphia. It was mid-November, raining, and night time. There was 4 inches of water on the deck. We joked about how we got into this job but he helped me get those samples and kept me smiling the whole time. That is the kind of person that Charlie was. One day I mentioned that I was planning to add a deck to the back of my house. He showed up at my house and stayed until it was done.
I was happy for Charlie when he moved to another division with the chance to advance. I knew that he would be a valuable member of their staff, and he was. I missed working with him every day but we kept in touch and he let me be his workout partner at the gym.
You will never know a nicer, better, gentleman than Charles Nystrom. He will be missed.  Steve Westbrook

Really enjoyed getting to know Charles and family when he was president of W5RRA Amateur Radio Club.

His keen sense of curiosity and cheerful sense of humor were so welcome at our gatherings.

We will miss him very much.

Charlie , Charles and Donna been extended members of our family for over 20 years. We were Scouters together for many years. Donna was our daughter’s confirmation sponsor. It was only natural for our youngest son Lorenzo to ask Charlie to be his Confirmation Sponsor. Charlie also wrote a beautiful letter for Lorenzo’s Eagle Scout recommendation. Full of love, humor, light and Christ. We will dearly miss our gentle friend. RIP

Charlie has been a dedicated member of SwRI's Meals on Wheels delivery team almost since we started the effort, for at least 14 years. Always a joy to speak with, I didn't have that many direct interactions with him, because he was such a dedicated driver and never missed a route.  We need more Charlies in this world. He will be missed by his Southwest Research Institute family.

I will miss Charlie's sense of humor, his hardy laughter, his kindness and thoughtfulness and hearing him tap his foot to the beat of Brittany Spears songs in the next room.  I'll always be thankful to have known Charlie.  He will truly be missed.  My thoughts and prayers will be with his family. So sorry for your loss.
