

Charles Scott Parker, Son, Husband, Father, Brother, and Friend, passed away on Sunday July 26th. Scott was known as a generous, kind, and happy person. He was very quick to make friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Scott was born on August 27th, 1935 to Page Venable Parker and Horatio Maxwell Parker. Scott was the second of four children which were Maxwell, Scott, Page, and Candes. Maxwell passed away March 23rd, 2013 and Page and Candes are still live with their families in San Antonio. Scott spent his childhood in San Antonio.
Scott attended The University of Texas where he met Barbara Joan Dresslar whom he married August 31st, 1956. They had two sons, Jeffrey Scott born July 28th, 1959 and Gregory Maxwell born April 25th, 1961. Jeff currently resides in Houston, TX and is married to Mary LeBlanc. Jeff has a son, Nicholas Scott Parker from a previous marriage who is 18 and lives in Giddings, TX. Greg resides in San Antonio.
Scott graduated from Texas in 1958 with a Petroleum Engineering Degree and went to work for Texaco as a field engineer. In 1961 he and Barbara moved to Liberty, TX where they would spend the next 39 years. Scott started Parker Well Service in 1972 and was elected Mayor of Liberty in 1980.
He was very involved with the University of Texas and became a close friend to Darrell Royal. Over the years, Scott developed friendships with governors, Price Daniel, congressmen, Charlie Wilson and Lloyd Bentsen, presidents, Ronald Reagan, musicians, Willie Nelson and Bob Wills, celebrities, John Wayne and James Garner, and many other notable individuals over the course of his life as well as hundreds of friends in the Liberty area.
Services will be held in San Antonio at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Place, San Antonio, Texas 78212, (210) 736-3132 on Thursday July 30th at 1:30 PM with a reception at the church to follow. The family is also planning a Celebration of Life in the Houston area but a date has not been set yet.
