Charles (Chuck) W. Redepenning, Jr. passed away on December 23, 2020 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Chuck was born April 16, 1956 at Wilford Hall on Lackland AFB in San Antonio to Charles and Henrietta Redepenning. Chuck is survived by his wife Tatyana Vaynberg. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Redepenning (Libby) of Los Angeles, CA, and his son Charles (Charlie) W. Redepenning III of Sarasota, FL. Chuck is also survived by his brother Scott Redepenning of Houston. His extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces – and of course his beloved dog Owen and cat Baby Steps. Chuck was predeceased by his parents, and his sisters, Kathi Dooley and Roxanne Barnett.
Chuck grew up as an Air Force brat, building his thirst for adventure by living on bases around the world, including Valparaiso, FL, Tonopah, NV, Turkey, Japan, Washington, DC, and Panama before returning to Austin to attend the University of Texas. After graduating from UT, Chuck went on to St. Mary’s Law School, graduated with distinction, and began a long and adventurous career as a lawyer, C-suite corporate executive, startup venture consultant and entrepreneur. Highlights in his career include Datapoint and Fuddruckers in San Antonio, DAKA International and Stride Rite in the Boston area, where he served as President of the international division, and then back to San Antonio where he was involved with several ventures.
Chuck left this world at much too young an age, but it must be said that he lived every day of his life on a grand scale. He loved adventurous and exotic vacations, big lively social events, fast cars and fast skis, holiday family traditions, lifelong friendships, high-stakes business dealings, great rock & roll and jazz, the best clothes, electronics, gear and man toys that money could buy. Chuck loved cheering on his Spurs and Longhorns. He loved concerts, grand fireworks displays, the finest steaks as well as fried baloney sandwiches. Most of all, Chuck loved people. He was all about big smiles, tight hugs and loud laughter. If Chuck was anywhere in the building, you knew it, and you gravitated toward his energy.
Chuck will be missed in this world, but we will always be inspired by the life he lived.
A memorial service will be held January 9th, 4:00 pm at Porter Loring North. Social distancing and masks are required.
