

Upon his graduation from high school he enlisted in the Army, where he became a Paratrooper. He always laughed; the first plane he ever sat in, he jumped out of and flew five times before ever landing in the same plane he took off in. After leaving the Army with the rank of Sergeant, he attended Hampton Sydney College on the G.I. Bill. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, graduating in 1963. He then entered the Air Force, where his 23-year career earning the rank of Lt. Colonel along with many distinguished awards and honors, finally retiring in 1986.
When you saw Rex, you saw his guitar. No Karaoke machine was safe wherever there was a microphone, he was singing! Now he is singing "The Green, Green Grass of Home" in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Carrie Daye; 3 brothers, Ken, Bill, and Ray Daye; and a sister, Charlotte Moore. He is survived by 3 children, Chuck Daye, Jr., and Margaret Davis of San Antonio, Dennis Daye and wife Tanya of San Antonio, and Chris Daye of Minneapolis, MN; his partner in life, June Deason of San Antonio; his ex-wife, Donna Daye of San Antonio; his sister, Betty Frank, of Rice, VA; 4 grandchildren, Kristin, Brandon, Erin, and Nash; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Jaxson; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends around the world.
