Charles graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston (1934). He served with the Sixth Army during WWII (1941-1945). He had a long career as a retail store manager in St. Louis, Houston, and San Antonio, and was an avid golfer for over 50 years.
Two of his three brothers, Leo and Seymour, predeceased him. Charles was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Lorrayne, with whom he had four children, all of whom survive him: Jane Schwartz, Susan Northleaf, Richard Schwartz, and Dan Schwartz (Vicky). He is also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family.
Smart and funny, Charles made friends easily wherever he went. He was an exceptionally kind and loving man.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:15 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road.
