He is survived by his wife (Ruth), 2 sons (Charles Jr. & James D.) their wives, and 6 grandchildren. Charles, known to most by Charlie, was a tender-hearted, hard-working, Christian man with generosity that surpassed all.
He proudly served our country for 26 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, followed by a 15 year career working in Information Systems at USAA. Charlie’s interests included: golfing, bowling, baseball, traveling, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and cheering on the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association under the team name “Charlie’s Angels” to fund research and the Texas Wounded Warriors Foundation to honor those who served.
The procession will leave Sunset Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM for the graveside service with military honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:30 AM. To sign the online guestbook, please log on to www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
