

Charles Lawrence Wagner was born on June 26, 1932 at Ft. Sheridan, IL. He passed away on March 18, 2023 in San Antonio, TX. Charles was always known as “Chuck” to most who knew him. He grew up in Bergen, NY, in a foster home. He joined the Navy after graduating from high school, serving 4 years. During his naval enlistment Chuck saw duty in Korea during the Korean War. During his Air Force career, he was assigned to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. where he met his wife, Barbara. Chuck’s other assignments were to Offutt AFB, Nebraska; Andrews AFB, Maryland; Keflavik Air Force Base, Iceland; Patrick AFB, Florida and Randolph AFB, Texas. He proudly served 23 years in the Air Force, retiring at Randolph AFB, Texas in 1976. After military retirement, Chuck joined the Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, serving as loan officer and Assistant Branch Manager, retiring in 1997.
Chuck enjoyed bowling and was active in leagues during his tour in the Washington, D.C. area. His love of bowling spilled over to his children, which influenced them for many years. He also developed a love for grilling after moving to Texas and specialized in Texas brisket to everyone’s enjoyment. Chuck was devoted to his family and loved each and every family member. He was dearly loved by his children and grandchildren, all of whom have many fond memories him.
Chuck is survived by wife, Barbara J. Wagner; sons, Bruce A. Wagner (Christine), Glen A. Wagner (Yolanda), and Donald L. Wagner (Deborah); grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Ian and Amy; as well as several great-grandchildren, other family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Marie Burky.
