

Charlie Simon, loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, entered into the arms of our Lord on October 1, 2011 at the age of 59. His journey of life began on October 30, 1951 in San Antonio, TX. A quadriplegic for 30 years, Charlie and his wife ran and operated a successful medical equipment business for over 25 years helping to change the lives of children and adults with special needs. He donated medical equipment to Physicians without Borders and Physician Outreach to be taken to third world countries. He was a recipient of the WOAI Spirit Award and was recognized in many publications for his contributions to the community. His reputation preceded him. Charlie was blessed with many great and loyal friends and family. His daughters and grandsons gave him the drive to pursue life to the fullest. He hopes he touched your lives as you truly touched his. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, John Francis Simon. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gayle; daughters, Jennifer Sandstrom and husband Jon and their children Chase and Cade; and Amy Schock and husband Will; mother, Alice Simon; sister, Alice Marie Slavin and husband Jim; and fabulous niece and nephews. The family would like to offer their sincerest appreciation to Letty Mata for her love and care. Box 1187, Helotes, TX 78023. “Build a barn, raise a child.” A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Rd., Helotes, TX. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the church.
