

Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II. In 2004 during commemorative ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of the Normandy Allied landing in France on D-Day, he was presented the medal of the Chevalier d'Legion d'Honneur (French Legion of Honor), France's most prestigious award for military or civil service. He also received numerous medals, including the Bronze Star. Charlie owned businesses in the oil and real estate industry, and was a former Mayor of Eagle Pass, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Juan, Henry, Willie, Clemente, and Herman; and wife, Minerva C. Uranga. Survivors include his wife, Yolanda M. Uranga; 2 daughters, Bonnie U. Molinar (Joe) and Norma C. Uranga; 2 stepsons, Hector "Rocky" Valds (Diana), and Walter Ritchie (Joyce); a stepdaughter, Melva V. Crdenas; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Elisa Morley; and a brother, Glenn Uranga.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 15, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
