

Charlotte Elizabeth Phillips grew up near Cornwall, Vermont on a farm with her parents, Mary Pauline and James Orville Phillips, and her brother, Robert Warner Phillips. Charlotte earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont in Home Economics Education which served her well in her career with the US Army, retiring with the rank of Colonel. As a Vietnam veteran, she was awarded a bronze star. She continued an enthusiastic, life-long affiliation with Womens Army Corp organizations.
Charlotte also earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Divinity School in New York. She studied Clinical Pastoral Education in San Antonio and served as served as a volunteer lay chaplain in Vermont and pastoral visitor at the ARC. She was a life-time worshiper and generous contributor to Cornwell Church of Christ (Congregational) in Vermont. A valued member and vestry member at St Davids Episcopal Church and supporter of St Davids School, San Antonio, Charlotte and her long-term friend, Ruth Cade, were appreciated for their energetic and inspiring outreach ministries and their support of children. She and Ruth also founded the Twin States Volkssporting Club in Vermont and New Hampshire and were enthusiastic walkers. They enjoyed many years of travel throughout the world, visiting friends, enjoying new sights, and sharing their adventures. At her request Charlotte will be buried with her parents and only sibling at the picturesque Evergreen Cemetery in Cornwall, Vermont at a later date. A strong supporter of women in ministry, the legacy of her faithful witness to Gods love, her good humor and wise counsel, her kindness and generosity will continue to be with all of those who knew her and called her friend.
