Cheryl Lynne Steubing, age 65, passed away July 8, 2010. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 1, 1944 to Wilbert “Gus” and Esther Meiske. She is survived by her husband of 49 years George H. Steubing; children, Lynette Smith and husband Gary, Leslie Wedige, Lisa Steubing, George H. Steubing Jr. and wife Tiffany; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Heather, Rebecca, Emily and Lily; brothers, Doug Meiske and wife Peggy, Jimmy Meiske and wife Laura; sister, Melanie Miller; numerous nieces and nephew. Cheryl was known as “grandma” to everyone that knew her and she will be greatly missed by all. She worked at the Helotes Echo Newspaper for over 20 years and will be missed deeply by her co-workers, Diane Wooten and Gary Brown. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, 9944 Leslie Road at Braun and Loop 1604 with Rev. David Schulte officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Helotes.
