

Chris Wayne Cantwell, 54, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on February 7, 1971, in Gatesville, Texas, Chris lived a life marked by quiet strength, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Chris earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Chris built a career defined by integrity, professionalism, and a deep commitment to doing what was right. His colleagues admired his sharp mind and witty sense of humor, and he formed many lifelong friendships throughout his career.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chris will be remembered for the love and steadiness he brought to those around him. He was a devoted husband and father, a loving son, grandson, and brother, a loyal friend, and a source of quiet comfort to all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, calling turkeys, golf, billiards, and cheering on Texas A&M sports.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Greta Cantwell; his beloved daughter, Megan Cantwell; his siblings, Brian Cantwell, Alicia Sims, and Stacy Zuehlke; his mother Betsy Cantwell; his father and stepmother John Henry Cantwell and Donna Cantwell; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Candy Faulk; his grandmother, Maybelle Crawford; and his nieces and nephews: Audrey Cantwell, Maddie Cantwell, Cheyenne Sims, Stephani Hester, Brooke Sims, Emma Zuehlke, and Maverick Zuehlke. He is also survived by extended family and many dear friends who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.
A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on, Friday, August 1, 2025, at Sunset North Funeral Home located at 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. A funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 12:00 noon, officiated by Chris’s dear friends Drew Segraves and Jared Segraves. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chris's memory to the ALS Association.
Though gone too soon, Chris leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep love, and the enduring joy he brought to all who knew him.
