Christel Boettcher Bowman

Our beloved little mama, Christel Bowman went peacefully to be with the Lord at the age of 96 on July 21st, 2026, a few days before her 97th birthday. She was born on July 25, 1929 in Germany, but made her home in San Antonio, Texas for more than 70 years. She was a strong woman with a great love of family. She loved crafts, knitting, art, landscaping her yard, gardening, watching the birds, all things that would keep her busy. She was very charitable and donated to many organizations.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fredrich and Marta Boettcher, her precious children, Shirley Nelson Rye, Barbara Nelson, Lonnie Nelson, daughter-in-law, Linda Nelson; and son-in-law, Dale Smith.

She is survived by her loving family; sons, James Nelson, Robbie Bowman; daughter, Janene Bowman-Smith; grandchildren Chelsea Smith (Jonathan), Joel Rye, Jr. (Anna), Joshua Primus (Christine) and Adam Nelson (Kristina) and great-grandchildren.

It has been a long journey and now she has gone home.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218, US, on August 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place on August 3, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218, US, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
