Christopher Carl Holder

Christopher Carl Holder, lovingly known as Chris, was born on October 6, 1961, in Houston, Texas, to Walter Johnson Holder and Judy Ann Kelly Holder. Chris passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Chris was a simple man whose greatest joy in life was his sons. They were the center of his world, and being their father was his proudest accomplishment.

A dedicated educator for nearly 30 years, Chris spent his career teaching high school history and inspiring generations of students. He was also a lifelong sports enthusiast, playing tennis throughout high school and college before coaching golf and tennis for more than 20 years. An avid golfer with a quick wit and a kind heart, Chris will be remembered for his passion for history, his love of sports, and his ability to make others smile.

Chris is survived by his beloved sons, Blake Thomas Holder and Ryan Christopher Holder, both of San Antonio, Texas; his brother, Kelley Bennett Holder of Harlingen, Texas; and a few dear friends who remained by his side through the years.

Though his passing came far too soon, Chris’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the students he inspired, and the family he loved so deeply. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A Public Visitation will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232, on July 11, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 am.
