Christopher, (Chris), Raymond Smisek left this Earth with Jesus on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 70 years old.His surviving family includes: Paula, wife, and brothers-in-law, Rick and Bo, and children, Martha and Brian and their children, Meg and Henry, and Robert and Amanda and their children, Asher and Wyatt; his three brothers, Philip, Stephen, and Jeff, and their wives, Michelle, Brenna, and Diana, his nieces and nephews, Alex, William, Jamie and Colton, Heather and Summer, Isabella, Juliette, Spencer and Maddox, Julian, Emily and Isidore, and Patrick. Donna Sue, Anita, and other extended family 2nd cousins.
Chris and Paula shared very strong faith and are members of the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church of San Antonio.
Chris was in the Air Force, was a great snow skier, golfer, hunter and Fisherman. He volunteered for an endless list of organizations and activities, while always being conscious of the concerns for the ecology of this precious Earth. So many friends came from these endeavors & sports.
He had a successful business for 40 years and was active in CCA, (Involving the ocean waters and environmental concerns) and various organizations that supported this. Most recent was the rescuing of turtles on the Gulf Coast.
Chris and Paula had three labradors throughout their marriage of 40 years, Willie, Camo and Chester, Camo & Chester (related pups) went with Chris everywhere. Everyone knew those dogs as “The Best”, whether hunting or chasing a ball or just hanging out. Everyone wanted Chris to train their pups. They were always faithful to the end and were waiting for Chris on the other side.
Chris’ nickname amongst those in the fishing world was “Capt. Camo,” and a great Captain he was. His beautiful smile under his mustache and beard was appreciated by all. Chris was generous, kind, friendly, loving, funny, and always thinking of others and how to help. We must not forget the fun of the pancake breakfasts enjoyed by so many (made from the “starter” from his dad, Raymond).
He was a great husband, friend, brother, son, uncle, nephew, and always had more room in his heart for Love and sharing. Amen.
