Claire N. Regnier

Claire was a prominent figure in San Antonio as the first Executive Director of the Paseo del Rio Association, and under her guidance, the San Antonio River Walk grew into the state's leading international tourist attraction.

She later founded Regnier, Valdez & Associates, a local marketing advertising and public relations agency, with her lifelong friend and business partner Linda A. Valdez, and served the agency and its clients as President and Creative Director until her retirement in 2001.

Her many honors include induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame, Headliner for Public Endeavor award from the Association of Women in Communications, Communicator of the Year award from the International Association of Business Communicators, and professional awards too numerous to count.

She loved to cook, read and care for all the creatures of the earth.

Throughout her life, she actively volunteered for organizations such as the Great Plaines Restoration Council, Animal Defense League, San Antonio Area of Girl Scouts, Fiesta San Antonio, Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, Retired and Senior Volunteers Program, Arthritis Foundation, San Antonio Art League, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Centro 21 and others too numerous to count.

She was a cum laude graduate of Trinity University.

She will be greeted in heaven by her parents, Gen. Eugene and Claire J. Regnier and her stepson Jimmy Pipkin.

Claire is survived by Jim and Linda, along with brothers Keith and wife Carole, Henry and wife Jan, and Gene Regnier, sister-in-law Patsy Douglas and husband David, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Pipkin and granddaughter Lauren Pipkin, cousin Drew Getz and husband Tom, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends and loved ones who will miss her wit and charm.

Services will be held Monday, May 22 at 3 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave.
