

Clara DeBacker Collignon went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2025, at the age of 90. Clara was born September 24, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas to Alice Wauters and Theophile DeBacker. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Otto Leck, two children, Herbert Collignon III, Bruce Collignon, her brother Rene DeBacker and sister-n-law Rosmary DeBacker.
Clara is survived by her two children, daughter Terrie Urbanczyk and husband Brian of Poth; son Jeffrey Collignon and wife Claudia of Boerne; one granddaughter Morgan Richards and husband Bransen of Poth; two great grandchildren Cadyn and Brooks Richards, numerous nieces, nephews and her four-legged companion, Bailey.
She graduated from St. Gerards High School in 1953 and entered the workforce working for several companies during her 62 years of employment. Her last job, working for Catholic Charities of San Antonio, was her most fulfilling and rewarding, where she provided devoted service to those in most need, retiring at age 81.
Clara lived in Colonies North subdivision for almost 60 years.
She was a founding member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church and was in attendance for the first Mass in June 1971. Clara served on the Parish Council, helped develop the monthly newsletter, organized Social Sundays, taught CCD classes and was active in the Family Guild Society.
Clara's faith in God, devotion to Mary and praying the Rosary were central in her life and a constant source of strength. She loved her family and her granddaughter was the light of her life.
Clara was blessed with many lifelong friendships, some of which spanned 70 years.
A service honoring the life of Clara DeBacker Collignon will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church (10703 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78230) on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Visitation will occur at 9:00 a.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass, Eulogy and internment at Holy Cross Cemetery (17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266).
Lastly, the family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Seraphic Sisters and the staff of St. Francis Nursing Home for the exemplary and loving care they provided. The family is also deeply thankful to Dr. Prang, who compassionately oversaw her medical care while she was at St. Francis.
