

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS
Clara Louise Harris Gregg of Shreveport, LA passed into eternal life on June 22, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Commander William Gregg. She was a dedicated mother to three children, Loula Louise Gregg, Joseph Gregg and William Gregg Jr. and the proud grandmother of Stephanie Morgan Gregg.
Mrs. Clara Gregg, known since birth as "Precious", was born in Austin, TX October 9, 1922 to parents August Watkins Harris and Loula Macgill Ujffy Harris.
She precedes in death her sister, Eleanor Elizabeth Harris; brothers, August Watkins Harris Jr., and William Maurice Harris; sister-in-law, Marilyn Harris; and daughters-in-law, Judy Anne Mehus Gregg and Marie Maronge-Gregg.
Clara Gregg was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Lt. Clara Harris served in WWII as a Navy WAVE communications officer where she met her husband. She had the opportunity to travel several places including England and Japan.
Precious was an avid gardener, continuing as a Life member of the Laurel Heights Garden Club. She was also a Docent at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, a Daughter of the Republic of Texas, a member of the Naval Association and the San Antonio Garden Society. She was a Red Cross Nurse's Aide, and while in San Antonio served at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on the Vestry and was a choir member at St. Thomas church for many years.
She loved listening to and singing all kinds of music, especially the Metropolitan Opera, and sang at nursing homes in Shreveport with the Warblers. Precious and her award winning smile will forever be in the hearts of family and endless friends.
