Clarence "Clancy" Hall, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and decorated veteran, was greeted by his loving Father peacefully at his home in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving family on September 20, 2025. Born on February 2, 1932, to parents Clarence Earl Hall and Dorothy Mae Hall (Javens) in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, Clancy lived a life marked by bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his country and family.
Clancy enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17, driven by a profound sense of duty and patriotism. He was a bottom tier gunner on the B-29 during the Korean war, then was accepted to the United States Military Academy, West Point. Clancy served with distinction as a member of the elite Green Berets, where he demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in numerous missions throughout his career. His service took him across the globe, from the jungles of Vietnam and South America, Panama and Okinawa to several tours in Germany and other critical engagements where his expertise and bravery earned him multiple commendations, including the Bronze Star and Air Medal. He had 108 free fall jumps during his career.
Clancy's family was his greatest pride and joy. Immediately following his West Point graduation, Clancy married his sweetheart, Doris (Dori) Ruth Birchler on June 4, 1957, and together they raised four children: Kelley, Chris, Jason, and Greg. Clancy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, always placing his family's well-being above all else. His grandchildren will cherish the countless stories he shared, rich with wisdom and humor. Clancy’s grandchildren and great grandchildren will hold memories of their “Opa” close to their hearts.
After retiring from the military, Clancy and Dori settled in San Antonio and he continued to serve his community as a volunteer and a faithful member of his church, Castle Hills Baptist, where he was a deacon and choir member. He opened his own engineering company IHS Geotech and ran geotechnical services for the many construction projects around the greater San Antonio area.
In his later years, Clancy enjoyed spending time tending to the deer behind their home, golfing, having friends and family over to events and entertaining their church groups in their home. His friends and neighbors remember him as a kind, principled, and generous man, whose door was always open, and whose presence brought warmth and light to every gathering.
Clancy is survived by his wife Dori, children, Kelley Forster (Jerry), Jason Hall (Melissa), and Greg Hall (Jeni); his grandchildren, Derek Forster, Colby Forster, Kyndall Smith, Avery Sepanski, Austen Hall, Cameron Hall, Jackson Hall, Nathan Hall, Jeremy Forster, Brandon Forster, Kate Gentry, and six great grandchildren; Hunter Forster, Olivia Smith, Hensley Smith, Easton Sepanski, Levi Smith and Lincoln Sepanski.
