
C. Linden "Corky" Sledge, of San Antonio, TX, died March 23, 2001. He is survived by his children, Suzy, Linda, Scott, and Maggie, John and Deanna Sledge; his grandchildren, Alexandra O'Connell, Meagan, Forrest, Claire and Gavin Sledge; brother and sister, Sam and Lillian Sledge; and nieces and nephews, Brad, Matthew, Chrissy, Steve and Sally Sledge and Sherri, Paul, Clark, Clay and Jessica Pulliam. Corky was a Phi Kappa Psi and Silver Spur at The University of Texas and retired as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Frost Bank after 30 years of service. He also served as President of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and on many boards, including Trinity University Board of Trustees, Texas Independent Bank, Azrock Industries, Inc., Reserve City Bankers, United Way of San Antonio, Muscular Dystrophy Association and Alamo Area Council of Boy Scouts. Corky was known as a people person, diplomat, skilled manager and team builder, gifted with charm and charisma. He has touched many lives. His family greatly appreciates all those who have loved him. He was also a member of The Episcopal Church of Reconciliation, The Order of the Alamo, Texas Cavaliers, German Club, Town Club, Rotary Club, Conopus Club, San Antonio Country Club, The Argyle, Club Giraud and Plaza Club. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Chandler Health Care Center and Vista Care Family Hospice, particularly his nurses Laura and Gail, and Richard, the singing hospice chaplain for their kindness and loving care during Corky's lengthy illness.
