

Colonel Ret. Clarence H. "Clancy" Woliver was born November 3, 1932 in Goose Creek, Texas, son of Clarence H. and Dorothy Belt Woliver; died April 19, 2002 in San Antonio, Texas. Clancy graduated from Texas A&M University in 1954 and spent 31 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as the Post Commander of Fort Sam Houston in 1986. He was awarded MA in Business Administration, Webster University, in 1985. Subsequent to his retirement from the Army, Clancy served as the President of the San Antonio Medical Foundation until January 1999. Until January of 2002, Clancy served two terms as the Senior Warden for Christ Episcopal Church. In addition he was a Past President of the Rotary Club of San Antonio, and a Past President of both the San Antonio A&M Club and the Atlanta, Georgia A&M Club. Other civic and volunteer positions include: Board Member of Eisenhower National Bank; Board Member of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County; Treasurer of the Texas Medical Association Foundation; member of the Greater Atlanta, San Antonio, San Antonio Northside, and San Antonio Hispanic Chambers of Commerce; Chairman of both the Atlanta and San Antonio Federal Executives Boards; Chairman, Combined Federal Campaign, Atlanta; Board Member, Bexar County Red Cross; Trustee and National Director, Order of Daedalians and Foundation; Presidents Council, UTHSCSA; Chancellor's Advisory Committee, Texas A&M University System; and member of the VFW and the American Legion. Also, Clancy was a member of The Club at Sonterra; the San Antonio Country Club; The Argyle; a Charter Member of Stephen F. Austin's Old 300; a Son of the Republic of Texas; and a member of Conopus Club. Clancy was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Saunders Woliver, and is survived by his wife Jo Ann Ansley Woliver, son Walter Hugh Woliver and daughter-in-law, Louanne Woliver, grandson, Christopher Hugh Woliver of Roswell, Georgia; son David Allen Woliver of Tallapoosa, Georgia; brother Ronald W. Woliver, sister-in-law Carrie and niece Christi of Houston, Texas; step-daughter Karen Goetting Skelton and husband Hamp, and grandsons, James, Will, and John of Austin, Texas, step-daughter Emma Goetting Calvert and husband Toby and granddaughters Lilly and Rita of San Antonio; step-son, F. Thornton Goetting III, wife Karen, and granddaughter, Katie, of San Antonio. Military decorations include the Silver Star, Legion of Merit 2, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart 3, Air Medal 9, Bronze Star 2, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Korean Samil Medal and others. Also presented with the Master Army Aviation badge and Iranian Army Aviator Wings. Pallbearers: Fred Mitchell, Stanton Bell, Bartell Zachry, Bill Shepard, Don Ellis, Jerry Boles, Jack Walters, and Dick Bryan.
