
Lt. Col. Claude Bryant "Tommy" Thompson, Jr., USAF Ret., of San Antonio, was born in Ruislip A.F.B., England on February 24, 1953, died Monday, October 1, 2001 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was a family man who dearly loved and cherished his family. His second love was flying. His flying career began with a private airport in Columbia, SC where he washed planes in exchange for flying lessons. At age 16, he had obtained his pilot's license. He earned a Master's Degree from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA. He was then commissioned in the USAF and served for 24 years . During his career in the Air Force, he flew various aircraft including the F-4. While stationed in Aviano A.F.B., Italy, he served as Deputy Support Group Commander. Following his retirement from the Air Force on October 31, 2000 until his death, he was a pilot for FedEx. He was preceded in death by his father Claude Bryant Thompson, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Yongsuk Thompson; son, Ryan Moore Thompson; daughter, Jennifer Laura Thompson; mother, Annie Lee Thompson of Thomasville, GA; brothers, William B. Thompson and wife Janet of Thomasville, GA and Frank M. Thompson of Bakersfield, CA; niece, Sally Anne Thompson of Nairobi, Kenya.
