Clement "Clem" William Dooley Jr., passed away on February 11, 2018, after living life fully for 86 wonderful years. He was born on July 9, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up there and attended Thomas Jefferson High School where he met the love of his life, Mary Edna De Larrea. They were married on March 31, 1951. Soon after, they moved to San Diego, California, where Clem served in the Navy for four years.
He was a Dental Technician Level 3 "DT3" and was assigned to the U.S.S. Doyle (a mine sweeper) that patrolled the Sea of Japan during the Korean War. After receiving his education in dentistry and completing his military commitment to the Navy, he and Edna along with their two young children, returned to San Antonio to be near family. They eventually established Dooley Dental Laboratory, where he worked with his hands to make a living, artfully fabricating dental implements for patients for numerous San Antonio dentists.
He also enjoyed working with precious metals and gems to fashion jewelry. A masterful wood worker, he created beautiful bowls and vases from exotic woods. Always working with his hands, he enjoyed working on the lake house that he built with Edna. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, water skiing, motorcycle riding, and scuba diving at the lake.
A gifted conversationalist, he loved talking with people and was always good for a story, complete with entertaining embellishments. Proud of his Irish heritage, he found pleasure in researching his ancestry and discovered family origins in Offaly County Ireland who eventually emigrated to America in the mid 1800s.
He is joyfully reunited with his beloved wife Edna of 61 years and greatly missed by his two children, daughter Leslie Dooley Tucker, and her husband Steve, and their two children Beth and Matthew, and son Thomas William Dooley, and his wife Nancy, and their two children Matt and Jessi. A graveside service is planned at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 11:00 a.m. on March 16, 2018.
