It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cleofas Z. Hernandez, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born June 5, 1934 and was called to the Lord on June 24, 2022 at the age of 88. Cleo was a proud graduate of Lanier High School, a member of Lost Weekend - 1940 Friends, The St. Vincent De Paul Society, and he was awarded the Marianist Heritage award in 2007. He was a dedicated employee of Frito Lay for 27 years, and received numerous awards for his leadership as a District Manager. For most of his adult life, he was a prominent and well respected supporter of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its community, always helping out whenever needed. He also enjoyed camping with his family and friends, fishing, all Texas baseball and college softball, basketball, woodworking, and classic cars. He was a huge fan of The San Antonio Spurs, and The Dallas Cowboys. He especially enjoyed dancing, mostly to salsa and cumbia music. He was well known by all for his easy going personality, sense of humor, quick wit and an infectious smile.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sally Ann Snyder; parents, Mr. Manuel Hernandez and Mrs. Thomasa Hernandez; sister, Celia Gonzales and brother, Juan Hernandez.
He is survived by his loving wife, Celia B. Hernandez; daughter, Patricia A. Castillo, her children, Valerie Castillo, Veronica Arellano (James) and her grandchildren, Jaron and Dayvin; son, Steven Hernandez, his wife Ida; son, Michael J. Hernandez, his wife Patty, and their daughter Troy Annalise; son, Matthew Hernandez, his wife Rebecca and their children, Kassandra, Joshua, Lianna, Matthew Jr., and his grandson Cameron; sister, Alicia Flores as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Cleofas will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 11, 2022 beginning at 5:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. The Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM.
A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 159 Camino Santa Maria, San Antonio, TX 78228, followed by a committal service at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd., San Antonio, TX 78237.
