Clifford Bonnett Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2024, in his hometown of San Antonio, TX, after a short battle with cancer. Born on July 13, 1952, to Clifford Bonnett Sr. and Cleo (Amos) in San Antonio, Clifford Jr lived a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Cliff was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Marsha Bonnett, whom he married on March 11, 2006, in San Antonio, TX. Their union of 18 years was a testament to the enduring power of love and partnership.
He is survived by his beloved wife Marsha Bonnett; his loving mother Cleo Sumerlin, daughters April Bonnett and Amanda (Steffon) Love, sister Barbara Prybila, and grandchildren Shawn Taylor, Makenna, Joshua, and Bryan Malone. Cliff’s aunt Juanita Davis, sisters-in-law Doris (Alfred) Kosik and Desiree (Jim) Gunning, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cat kids Lucy and Chester also mourn his passing.
In his professional life, Cliff was an accomplished sheet metal worker for George Williams Construction Company and the proud owner of Budget Filters Sales and Service. His dedication to his craft and strong work ethic left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Outside of work, Cliff’s true passions lay in his hobbies and interests. An avid fisherman, he found solace and joy in casting his line at Calaveras Lake, catching catfish, or enjoying a peaceful day fishing for perch in Brackenridge Park. His cherished Red Boat, a precious inheritance from his late father, held a special place in his heart and symbolized the enduring bond between generations. Cliff had a passion for cooking, baking, and experimenting in the kitchen. He loved gathering and canning vegetables from his garden and foraging for wild fruits to make jellies and jams to give to others.
Cliff was an avid collector of arrowheads and other Native American artifacts. He had an eye for finding flint anywhere he went. Later in life, his sense of adventure led him to develop a passion for Bigfoot hunting, a pursuit that brought him excitement and joy. He will surely have an advantage in observing Bigfoot from Heaven.
Cliff was a devoted member of Place of Grace Fellowship, where he volunteered tirelessly for the church's food pantry, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to serve others at a moment's notice earned him the admiration and respect of all who knew him.
A celebration of Cliff’s life will be held on August 3, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home on Austin Highway in San Antonio, TX, at 11:00 AM. There will be a visitation to spend time with the family on August 2, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. Cliff’s greatest joy was visiting the state parks to go fishing; donations will ensure future generations will be able to share in his love for fishing and nature. Keep your eyes out for Bigfoot.
