Carol Rae Poynor, age 83, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas.She was born on September 24,1939 in Ketchikan, Alaska and grew up in the small town of Craig, Alaska. Carol enjoyed a 26-year career with the Air Force, serving at Hamilton AFB, California, Shemya, Alaska, several other stateside assignments as well as overseas tours in Germany and Thailand before her last assignment in San Antonio, Texas where she retired.
After retirement Carol was a long-time secretary/coordinator for the Women in the Air Force (WAF) organization and was an on-line editor for multiple authors.
Carol is survived by her brother, Bob, Sr. (Celine) Poynor of San Angelo, Tx; nieces Kathy Poynor of San Angelo, Joanne (David Pate) Poynor of San Angelo and nephews, Bob, Jr. (Gina) Poynor and children Laura Poynor, Lisa (Ieshia) Hayes, TJ (Sarah) Poynor of McKinney, Tx; David J. (Kim) Poynor and children Hannah and Rebekah Poynor of McKinney.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert B. Poynor and Rae H. (Harrison) Poynor.
Carol’s smile and laugh would light up a room and the hearts of her family and friends. She had countless friends over the years, both military and civilian, and will be greatly missed by all.
