Lonnie was born in Rolla, Missouri to Virginia and William O’Haver on April 11th ,1945. and later went on to marry the love of his life, Mary Guerra, on June 12th, 1976, in San Antonio, TX.
He attended school in Rolla, Missouri and later graduated from Community College of the Air Force with an Associates of Applied Science in Logistic Management. He served in the United States Air Force for 30 years achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in and then served in civil service for 14 years. He worked in flight operations for Headquarters Mac at Scott AFB, to include the Inspector General Team (IG). He was a veteran of Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He was awarded the NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, the Outstanding Volunteer Ribbon, the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Long Tour Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 1 Silver and 1 Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon/Rifle, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational excellence Award with 3 oak leaf clusters . Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 1 Silver Cluster and 4 Oak Leaf Clusters.
He was involved in the National Softball and Baseball Player Association and the Softball Player Association (SPA) where he received National Softball Association Sports Hall of Fame in 2004, Softball Players Association Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2006, Texas Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2018, and National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2021.
He cherished time with family, friends, his softball community, and his military family. He also enjoyed church bingo, bunco, and time with his dog, Enzo.
Lonnie O’Haver is preceded in death by William E. O’Haver, Virginia O’Haver-Pollard, Howard Eugene O’Haver.
He is survived by Mary O’Haver, William O’Haver (Myriam), Phillip O’Haver (Sara), Shirley Tubbs, Hailee O’Haver, Will O’Haver, Janelle O’Haver, Jayden O’Haver, and Miah O’Haver.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by funeral services at noon on October 19, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
Burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
