Homer proudly served his country as a transportation officer for 30 years in the United States Air Force. He was a Vietnam War veteran where he earned a Bronze Star. His commitment to his comrades and his country shaped his character, earning him respect and admiration from all who knew him. Throughout his service he rose to the rank of Colonel. Homer’s career culminated with him being responsible for the purchase and maintenance of the entire ground fleet of the United States Air Force across the globe.
Beyond his service, Homer was known for his extraordinary ability to fix anything that was broken. Whether it was a car, a piece of furniture, or a household appliance, he had an unparalleled knack for problem-solving and a tool chest that seemed to hold every solution.
Homer was also a gifted conversationalist, able to engage with anyone on nearly any topic. His stories were legendary, ranging from tales of his many assignments, including lively discussions about life, fishing, and current events while sharing a beer.
Homer’s love of his family ran deep. He cherished the time that he got to spend with all his children and their families. Many memories were made around the kitchen table playing cards.
