September 8, 1948- December 14, 2015
Colleen Mullen Goff graced this earth on September 8, 1948 and remained steeped in the Galveston Island traditions all her life. An Ursuline Academy graduate, she received her B.A. and Masters in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. While working at the university, she met her beloved soul mate, D. G. Goff.
Returning to San Antonio, Colleen enrolled in St. Mary's University School of Law. She and D. G. married in 1982, and for more than 33 years, they shared their love of family, friends, food, entertaining, travel, and Longhorn football. She never entered a room she could not redecorate and make more lovely and comfortable.
H. B. Zachry Company recruited Colleen as a law clerk after her first year of school. The clerkship launched a three decades plus career working for, and with, all three generations of the Zachry family and many of their corporate entities. She was named General Counsel, Senior Vice President, and member of the board of Zachry Group, Inc., an enterprise operating in 35 states and employing 20,000 individuals. Supervising the corporate legal department, outside counsel, complex contracts, and litigation were her professional priorities.
Colleen's love for and appreciation of classical music was reflected in the number of pro bono hours of legal services she provided to the San Antonio Symphony. Organizations benefiting from her leadership skills include the Boards of the World Affairs Council, Free Trade Alliance of San Antonio, Methodist Healthcare Ministries, and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Colleen served on the vestry of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and the legal profession through engagement with the San Antonio Bar Association and Foundation, the State Bar of Texas, and numerous other professional associations.
Colleen was a beautiful, caring individual whose intellect, energy, integrity, and caring nature brought joy to all those in her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Brooks Mullen and her sister-in-law, Linda Mullen. She is survived by her husband, D. G. Goff; mother Mrs. Frances Mullen; brothers Dr. Brooks Mullen and wife Barbara of Seguin, and Pat Mullen of San Antonio; sisters Maripaz Manriquez of Mexico City and Kitty Mullen of Austin; nephews Michael Mullen and wife Andi of Seguin, and Todd Mullen and wife Kelly of San Antonio; and niece Bianca and husband Pancho Vasquez of Mexico City.
A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 315 E. Pecan St., San Antonio, Texas 78205.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Benedict's Workshop (2015 NE Loop 410, San Antonio, Texas 78217) or St. Mark's Episcopal Church
