Consuelo “Connie” G. Flores, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 90, leaving a legacy of love, and devotion to her family and community. Connie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 70 years, Raul “Rudy” Flores, and parents, Isauro and Ernestine Gonzalez, and siblings Jesse Gonzalez and Cecilia Romo.
Connies is survived by her younger sister Theresa Gonzalez; and her five children Yolanda (Louis) Torres, Raul Andres (Ida) Flores, Irma (Alex) Guerrero, Alfred (Joni) Flores, and Robert (Patty, deceased) Flores; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Connie attended Draughon's Business College, after high school. That’s where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Rudy. Connie grew up sewing and making ceramics, as her mother was a seamstress, who also owned her own ceramic shop. Connie herself was very artistic, playing piano and drawn to arts and crafts. She painted, did macrame, knitted and crocheted, did woodworking, and made jewelry, frequently giving away the fruits of her labors.
Connie’s passion for life revealed itself as she accompanied Rudy on his military travels. She enjoyed learning about new cultures and cuisines, learning how to prepare local dishes and make regional crafts. She was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. Connie’s interests were diverse, but it was her love for her family that defined her.
Connie’s children were raised internationally due to Rudy’s military service, with assignments in Alaska, Germany, and Panama. Throughout her travels she ensured that family traditions were maintained, requesting “care packages” from her mother to get the ingredients to make “cascarones” for Easter and “tamales” for Christmas. Connie’s pride and joy was her family, and her love and support for all of them was unmatched. Connie’s influence on her family will forever be remembered, not only for her steadfast love, but for the music and joy she brought into their lives.
Connie will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
May she rest in peace.
A celebration of life service will be held on June 21,2025 at 1:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, Texas 78232.
