

Consuelo Lozano Gomez, age 92, a native of San Antonio died Sunday, March 4, 2012 due to complications of pneumonia. She was born November 21, 1919 to Valentine and Beatrice Lozano who preceded her in death.
Consuelo graduated from Little Flower High School and attended San Antonio College obtaining a Certificate in Dietetic Assistant Program. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who gave selflessly of herself. She always put others ahead of her own needs. Consuelo volunteered for many years at St. Jude's Senior Citizen Center. She traveled extensively with her family and her favorite vacation spot was Hawaii going there 4 times, most recently in 2009 for her 90th birthday.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Gomez, Sr. She is survived by her children, Mary Gomez Curll (Kenneth), Carmen Fertitta, Ruben Gomez, Jr. (Lisa), Martha Valdez (Juan), Albert B. Gomez (Sylvia) and Beatrice Hernandez (Louie); grandchildren, Kelly Gomez Curll Kinney (Jeff), James K. Curll, Michael Fertitta (Kelly), Laurie Jo Gomez, Allie Rae Gomez, Ray M. Rodriguez (Debra), Laura Rose Valdez, Noemi Parsons (Nathan), Rebecca Hernandez, Teresa Hernandez, Armando Hernandez and Louis Hernandez; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Teresa Lozano and Elizabeth Anguiano; brother-in-law, Viviano Gomez (Pat); numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to express appreciation to her caregivers Juanita Hernandez and Joyce Wilborn. Greatest thanks to the nursing staff with the 5th floor Telemetry unit of the Baptist Hospital Downtown, The Chandler Estates and The Village at Incarnate Word for their professionalism and excellent nursing care. Visitation will begin Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
