Consuelo C. Karp

Consuelo, who loved to be called “Momma” by her children departed this earthly world surrounded by her loving family on May 28, 2023. Connie, the child of Rex and Rita Cannon, was born in San Antonio, Texas. She adored her two younger siblings Lynnie and Tony Cape.

She met the love of her life, Harry David Karp while attending Fiesta in 1966. They were married for forty-four amazing years until his passing in 2010. Together they raised three daughters Stacey Lynn Karp Polanco (Randy Wolff), Jennifer Ann Streff (Stephen Streff), and Michelle Karp.

Connie devoted her life to the care of others as a nurse for 40 years. She gave 20 years to the Downtown Baptist Hospital then committed another 20 years as a civil servant at BAMC. Connie never met a stranger and was devoted to her family, but she was most proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses as well as her precious grandchildren Harry (Ariel) Karp, Ausin (Catt) Weilbacher, Robyn Polanco, Seth (Beth) Polanco, Regina Polanco, Stephen Streff, Sean Polanco, Charles Streff, Katelyn Bryant, and Ethan Karp. Also, her great-grandchildren Aubrey, Liam, and Maverick Karp; Morty Weilbacher and Penelope Polanco.

Momma Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry and her younger brother Tony. The family wishes to extend special thanks to our friend George Prado and caregivers Sandra (Advanced Rehab of Live Oak) and Amy (Northeast Methodist Hospital).

Services will be held on June 12, 2023, at St. Monica Catholic Church 501 North Street, Converse, Texas 78109. There will be a viewing at 11:00am and then Rosary at 12:15 followed by Holy Mass. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:15. Immediately after, the family will be receiving friends back at St. Monica Church.
