

Jimmie Corinne Cowan Staacke was born July 8, 1933 to James Vance Cowan and Lola Morene Baldon Cowan in Wink, Texas. She began her schooling in the pre-first grade and first grade in JaI, New Mexico. The Family moved to El Paso, Texas where she entered the second grade in Crockett Elementary School. She graduated from the 6th grade and attended the 7th thru the 8th grade at Austin Junior High School. The Family moved again to Midland, Texas where she entered the 9th thru the 10th grade at Midland High School. The Family moved to Houston, Texas where she graduated from Lamar High School with the National Thespian Award. She went to the University of Texas pledging Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
She married Herman Frederick Staacke, Jr. April 24, 1954. Her Air Force husband was assigned to Japan, where the couple lived for two years attending the extension of U. C. L. A. University. They arrived back in the USA to attend the University of Texas in Austin.
The couple moved to San Antonio, Texas, where they started their family, Herman Frederick Staacke, Ill and James Vance Staacke. Corinne attended Trinity University majoring in History. She served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts of America and later President of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority Alumnae Club.
She joined the San Antonio Conservation Society becoming chairman of Los Pastores at San Jose Mission and later served as First Vice President in charge of Finance and Budgeting over $1,000,000; Second Vice President in charge of researching Historical Properties and worked toward the extension of the La ViIIita Historical District, and Main Plaza and Military Plaza as Historical Districts, which were al accomplished and other single historic designations City, State and National; Third Vice President in charge of the San Antonio River and Parks; and last as Fifth Vice President as Chairman of a “Night in Old San Antonio.” She served as Liaison Officer to HUD as well as other City Commissions.
She was appointed to the Zoning Commission of San Antonio by the City Council.
She served as board member of Boys Club of San Antonio with a fundraising event of art at the Lily Langtree Room at Pearl Brewery.
She founded “Record Researchers”, working in the Trust Department of National Bank of Commerce.
She joined San Antonio de Bexar Chapter National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution serving first as Registrar helping new members with their genealogy second as Regent/President; Augustus Jones Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 as President; Co-Founder and President of the David Crockett Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 and serving as State Recording Secretary; National Recording Secretary of The Huguenot Founders of Manakin Town of the Virginia Colony Texas Branch; President and Co-Founder Texas Hill Country Colonial Dames of America Chapter XXXVI; President of the San Antonio Chapter of the National Society of the Huguenot Society; President of The Rose Window San Jose Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists. Other lineage organizations are: Daughters of the Republic of Texas Alamo Mission Chapter; United Daughters of the Confederacy Albert Sidney Johnston Chapter; Jamestowne Society San Antonio Company; Colonial Dames of America Houston Chapter; Colonial Dames 17th Century Governor Richard Preston Chapter; Order of Descendants Colonial Cavaliers; Dames and Barons of Magna Charta. She received the Martha Washington Award from Sons of the American Revolution three years.
She is also a member of the San Antonio Genealogical and Historical Library Society having served as a board member raising funds at a critical time when the Society was going to donate all their holding to the City Library.
Co-Founder of “The Texas Connection to the American Revolution”.
She is also a member of the Order of the Grenaderos y Damas de Galvez.
Corinne is survived by her beloved son James Vance Staacke; Brother Jack Vance Cowan and great niece Samantha Cowan Anaya and great nephews Sebastion and Scott Cowan and nephew Ben Cowan and niece Ann Katherine Cowan Allen.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
