Curtis Eugene Carson Jr. was born 27 December 1946 in Manhattan, New York to Curtis and Susannah Carson. He was known to his family as "Eugene". His family moved to San Antonio and Eugene attended and graduated from the San Antonio, Texas school system. Curtis worked several jobs but his is heart was set on serving his country.
Curtis married Gladys Dallard on 27 July 1969 where two sons Michael (deceased) and Paul were born. Both sons served their country in the US military. Curtis was the oldest of (8) children Margaret Holmes and Gloria Elm; brothers, Kenneth, Dennis, Gary, Gregory, and Richard (Deceased).
Curtis enlisted in the United States Air Force on 7 March 1969. He served his country as a Technical Sergeant (E-6) with dignity and honor for 20 years as an Aircraft Mechanic specializing in Engine Management. He found a second career after retiring from military service, and he spent the next 18+ years as a Civil Service Employee assigned to 47 OG Aircraft Maintenance Directorate located Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas. Eugene was as a Computer Technician but spent 16 years as an Aircraft Maintenance Engine Inspector. He retired December 2006 and returned home to San Antonio, Texas where he felt was his roots. Everyone that knew him, knew his drink of preference was Diet Coke. He faithfully drank them from sun-up to sun-down. His greatest joy was spending time with the love of his life, Arceli. He loved buying and working on computer systems and electronics. He spent many hours installing and working on the latest computer systems. Eugene was a member of the Del Rio Host Lions volunteering his time to raise money for disadvantage families in Del Rio, Texas; he assisted families in the delivering of food, clothing and sometimes shelter when needed.
Curtis is survived by his son, Paul Carson; daughter Marie-Claude Broadhead, Son-In-Law Arnold Broadhead, companion, Arceli Rala and her family; his sisters and brothers; Daughter-in-law Rissie Carson, Sister and Brother-in-laws, Grandchildren, Jaxon, Pariz, Garth, and Parks; great-granddaughter, Starr Lynn. Harry and Sylvia Boykin, Raul Garza and a host of nieces and nephews, friends, and relatives. Eugene was proud of and spoke often of two his nieces Lisa Woods and Sarell Clay who were the joy of his life.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, and beloved son Michael Carson. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 10:15 A.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
