

Cynariah Nicole Ward, 42 yrs old, of Marion, TX was received into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Feb 16, 2025, at 6:34 am at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, in San Antonio, TX.
Cynariah was baptized in Dec 2009 and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Livingway Church under the leadership of Bishop Steve Fender.
Cynariah was born in Chicago, IL to Melvin L Wilkins and Cynthia M McGuirk on Aug 6, 1982, at 6:49 pm. She accompanied her mother who served in the U.S. Air Force traveling around the world as an “Air Force military brat” for many years before settling in San Antonio, TX. Cynariah lived in many places and attended many schools during her mother’s service to our country to include Chicago, IL, San Antonio, TX, Midwest City, OK, Ramstein, Germany, Mountain View, CA, Anchorage, AK, and finally San Antonio, TX. Cynariah and Michael Ward were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Mariah and Makaylah Ward. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, and the University of Texas at San Antonio; Bachelors of Business Administration, General Business and American Graduate University; Masters of Business Administration; Acquisition and Contract Management. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, Umoja, and Black Student Union at UTSA.
She worked as a Contract Specialist at the operational level for General Service Administration and as a civil servant for over 20 years in support of the United States Government. She had superb leadership ability and communication skills. Cynariah was a Supervisory Contracting Officer and was assigned to Section C of Region 7's Global Supply Program. Designated as the region's Special Program Section responsible for GSA's contractual actions between major programs such as the Ability One Program, Federal Prison Industries Program, and a substantial portion of GSA's Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative Program. Cynariah supervised a section of a dozen Contracting Officers, Contracting Specialists, civilian contractors, and interns. She was responsible for all actions necessary to award Government contract vehicles and perform contract administration on those awards. Her section had made over $500M in awards over 3 years and was responsible for saving the Government, the American Taxpayer, and America's International Allies over $21M during that same period. Cynariah's management and leadership styles were impactful, insightful, compassionate, and inspirational and have forever changed GSA for the better. Cynariah impacted thousands and will never be forgotten or replaced.
Cynariah was an extraordinary, doting mother who loved and treasured her daughters. She was a beautiful, fiercely loyal, kind, and loving friend to all. Her intelligence and giving advice, pushing you to be a better person will be truly missed.
Cynariah’s Interest and Hobbies includes Physical Fitness Trainer -Certified, Reading, Reality TV, Fashion/ Stylist/ Makeup, Enjoyed activities with her daughters/basketball games, Travel/Cruises, Research, Crafting/ Decorating.
Cynariah is preceded in death by her father Melvin L Wilkins.
Cynariah leaves to cherish her memories with her mother Cynthia M Wilkins, daughters Mariah and Makaylah Ward, their father Michael Ward, brothers Cyriss D Wilkins, Vincent Holloway, Melvin Taylor, sisters Melanie Rollins and Charmaine Talbert. Special mention Uncle Gregory McGuirk, Auntie Martha Scott, Cousin Juanita Jackson, Best Friends/Sisters Natosha Daniels, Eda Lowe, Margie Davis, Marcie Fields, Tamika Ward, Reba Perlotte and Wendell Butler who were at her bedside constantly, and a host of loving aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Schyler McGuirk, Michael Ward, Chris Hardin, David Clay, Jason Floyd, Neal Hurst and Honorary Pallbearer: CJ Bankston.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 10-11 am, at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home with Bishop Steve Fender of Livingway Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home.
