

A native San Antonian, Cynthia was preceded in death by her loving parents, Col USA Ret. Henry Eitt and Grace.
Cynthia attended Jefferson and Incarnate Word high schools. She was attending the University of Texas when she met 2nd Lt Herbert Wilford Austin at a party. They were married in 1950 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
Her greatest delight was her family, and she tirelessly and lovingly saw to their every need as she moved them around the US and overseas establishing a comfortable home at each stop. Her only complaint was the damage done to her furniture in moving.
Cynthia was a fun loving, kind-hearted and generous person who served on numerous boards and organizations including work on the national campaign to establish the Air Force Village in San Antonio. She also served as president of the Spade and Trowel Garden club. Cynthia thrived on being with people and thoroughly enjoyed social occasions and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Col Herbert Wilford Austin, USAF Ret.; daughter, Gail Marie Eitt Austin; sons, Herbert Eitt Austin and wife, Janie, and Henry Hank Eitt Austin and wife, Nancy; and grandchildren, Kasey, Taylor and Hailey, all of San Antonio.
