Dain began his amazing career in the early 70s while still in his teens. He went on to run a salvage yard (Insurance Auto Salvage) for over 40 years. He worked hard to make it not only one of the biggest and reputable yards in San Antonio, but in the state of Texas. He accomplished this without even finishing the 10th grade. He believed hard work was the key to success, no matter the level of education.
Dain was a project guy, always working on something and making visions come to life, especially at his family ranch in South Texas. That was his happy place, working in the fields, designing spaces where his memory could always live like the chapel, the campo, and his family home there. He was also a collector of many things that seemed to make his heart happy, like guns, cars, arrowheads, artifacts, antiques, and anything John Wayne.
Most of all, he was a dedicated family man with a very big heart. He will be missed by many, especially his wife, children, and grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Dain is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Laura Hart;son, Jason Anthony Hart; daughters, Natalie Erin Hart and Jaimee Hart Scope (Jamie); grandchildren,Jayden, Avery, Alik, Poppy, and Alfie Dain; brother, Dale Hart (Elsa); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
